My Blog

Retirement. Publishers, thank you for the many years of reading pleasure you gave me, but all good things must come to an end. Due to failing eyesight I am forced to retire. I can no longer review your books, and any that you send will be donated to the local library, unread. Do not send any more. I can only read for a couple hours every day, and this does not allow me to finish a book in reasonable time. I will be devoting time to my own books from now on, and reading on a personal level. Books that interest me. I prefer paperbacks and hardbacks, not eBooks. My eyesight has been failing the last few years, and I cannot handle hundreds of review books any more. My books are still available for review. Anyone interested in reviewing any of them, they are found in the Link to Tom’s Books On Amazon. Contact me for pdf copies at fadingshadows40@gmail.com

The Family That Stays Together

The Family That Stays Together (Cozy Mystery)
By Deborah Plummer Bussey
ISBN #978-0615818858
Half Dozen Publications
278 Pages
Price $10.99
Rating 4-Stars

In this sequel to “They Still Call Me Sister”, blood sisters Kathy and Tina come to the aide of their friend, a television celebrity suspected of killing her ex husband. Kathy Carpenter, an ex Nun, is now called Sister Nun, a professional psychologist who gets caught up in investigating mysteries.

Readers of cozy mysteries will find the story of interest, but I felt it was a bit slow and dragged on much too long to get my interest. Tina’s language was really over the top, and I thought the author could have toned it down, and still made the point that she liked to use colorful language. On several occasions I wanted to put the book down, but hung on for the final ride. It was a good mystery, and the characters came alive, and for that I’m giving it a 4-Star rating. It just took too long to tell, and the rambling aggravated me.
