The story starts out like the plot of SHANE or a dozen other western plots, where the gunslinger arrives in the town where a rich rancher is pushing the little farmer out. But in this case we’re not in the western movies. Kim is hiding out after she ended up with a broken arm after her previous job. Taking her paraplegic brother, Donnie, to a desert community of old folks down on their luck, she discovers there’s even danger here. The local boss wants the area the camp is sitting on, and his men are harassing them, trying to force the old timers out. One of the old men wants to fight the gang, and keeps pushing the rest to follow him, yet the results are disastrous. Kim decides to step in and do something about it, even though one arm is in a cast. She still has her .357 with her, and plans an invasion of the enemy’s camp, only to run into a Russian agent with his own plans.

This is another topnotch Kim Oh adventure, with a great plot and characters, and Kim and Donnie are at their best, even when at a disadvantage. If we carry the similarity to SHANE further, we can expect a slam-bang ending, and are not disappointed. My only complaint is that I want this series in paperback editions for my shelf. Highly recommended for action lovers.

“Exciting Chase From L.A. To San Francisco.”

While Donnie, Kim Oh’s paraplegic brother is in San Francisco attending a technical geek conference Kim has taken an assignment that offers good pay. All she needs to do is transport a package from L.A. to San Francisco. Her invisible contact has set her up with a billionaire named Dalby, who pays her half at the start, with a promise of the other half when she delivers the package. The package is sealed, and she’s warned not to open it, nor told what’s in it.

With her .357 in hand, she races off on her Ninja bike, knowing things are never as simple as they may seem, and is alert for trouble. Trouble starts almost immediately on the freeway, as a muscled-bound driver in a muscle car attempts to run her down, nearly killing her. Escaping from him, she’s attacked by another group in a fake ambulance. Apparently there are two opposing teams after the package, and she must protect it from both.

We follow Kim’s thoughts as she works her way from one set up to the next, wondering if she will make it to the destination, or even if she was supposed to from the beginning. It appears that Dalby may have set her up for a fall, and wants to know why, and how she can turn the tables on him while staying alive.

This was another nice action novel featuring the small Korean accountant-turned-assassin, Kim Oh. Although it seems the stories are becoming shorter, there is enough action to keep the reader interested, and I love a fast-paced quick read anyway. As usual, the author knows how to pace the action, and keep the plot moving on a smooth course. Highly recommended for mystery and thriller lovers.

“Cute And Deadly!”

Kim is hired to protect the daughter of a rich man while the girl’s on vacation in South America. Seems like a piece of cake, but no sooner do they arrive than Kim is slugged over the head, and the girl disappears. Meanwhile, her brother Donnie has met Mavis a young university girl studying anthropology – in this case young people’s mating rituals while living it up on parents’ expense in South America. She latches on to Donnie, and they play on the computer while Kim get attacked, beaten up, almost killed, and finds that things aren’t on the up and up with anyone or anything.

This was another great entry in the Kim Oh, assassin for hire, series. It did seem a bit short, and not as intense as the previous entries, and in 1^st person narrative, Kim tells us too much about her past jobs instead of the current one. Still, it’s a darn good read, and Kim comes through in the end. Highly recommended, though I wish it was in paperback also.
