My Blog

Retirement. Publishers, thank you for the many years of reading pleasure you gave me, but all good things must come to an end. Due to failing eyesight I am forced to retire. I can no longer review your books, and any that you send will be donated to the local library, unread. Do not send any more. I can only read for a couple hours every day, and this does not allow me to finish a book in reasonable time. I will be devoting time to my own books from now on, and reading on a personal level. Books that interest me. I prefer paperbacks and hardbacks, not eBooks. My eyesight has been failing the last few years, and I cannot handle hundreds of review books any more. My books are still available for review. Anyone interested in reviewing any of them, they are found in the Link to Tom’s Books On Amazon. Contact me for pdf copies at fadingshadows40@gmail.com

The Double Trouble Caper

SAM HILL was a wise-cracking hard-boiled PI from 1950. He starred in his own comic, produced at the time by Archie Comics and Close-up Inc. (toothpaste). The character has since fallen into the public domain. The author takes creative liberties in drafting the tale, and made the character even more hard-boiled and wise cracking than when he appeared in the comic, updating him to more contemporary times.

Private Eye Sam Hill is hired by Prudence Meek to trail her sister. An uncle passed away, but the inheritance will go to the sister most deserving. Prudence wants evidence again her sister, a strip dancer named Mia Domore, proving her unfit. Sam contacts Mia Domore and tags along on a gambling spree that turns deadly, but can the detective prove Mia’s crime?

This was another fun short story by the author, and he hasn’t hit on a sour note yet. His short hardboiled stories whet the appetite for more. Highly recommended.
