“A Good Way To Pass A Few Hours.”

Palm Beach doesn’t see capital crime very often, and suddenly two murders are discovered, and homicide detectives Charlie Crawford and Mort Ott, both transplants from big cities, are concerned the homicides may be connected – but by different people. The lead suspect is a billionaire with lots of power and pull in Palm Beach.

The story and plot were good, but I had a lot of problems with the characters. Characterization was typical of new writers, but not seasoned authors. There was nothing unique. They just didn’t seem real, and made it look too easy taking down a billionaire – or even getting close to him. You can tell the author had fun writing the story, and I read it to the end, but I was glad when it concluded. It was a quick read, however, and a good way to pass a few hours relaxed with a mystery. The only real action was a couple cops getting into a fight in a bar, until a final chase scene to catch a couple hit men.
